Aya Amenssag

Aya grew up in Morocco before moving to France to study Engineering with a specialisation in Applied Statistics at École Centrale de Nantes. After obtaining her Diplôme d’Ingénieur, she moved to the UK to pursue an MSc in Statistics at Imperial College London. She then worked for nearly two years as a Data Scientist at the Institute of Cancer Research in London, applying statistical learning methods to breast cancer research. 
At StatML, Aya intends to focus on using raw cfDNA methylation sequencing to improve breast cancer diagnosis and the classification of its subtypes from plasma, while strengthening her understanding of the theoretical foundations of approaches commonly used in genomics. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, baking and taking long aimless walks.
