Rick, from Surrey, completed his undergraduate and master’s in Mathematics at University of Oxford. He conducted academic research across a diverse range of fields, including representation theory, algebraic number theory, and quantum computing. His Oxford-funded research focused on representations of algebraic groups, which extended into his Master’s dissertation. He also worked as an industry research intern at Vela Partner’s, investigating LLM applications in venture capital.
At StatML, Rick hopes to deepen his understanding of all aspects of machine learning, in particular Bayesian experimental design and uncertainty quantification. He aims to advance the theoretical foundations of machine learning models while maintaining industry collaborations, working towards explainable and trustworthy models that can benefit society. His hobbies include chess, Rubik’s cubes, playing the piano, and strolling.
