Originally from Belgium, Christophe has built a diverse international background through his academic and professional journey. His academic path began with a Bachelor’s in Econometrics at Maastricht University, which included a study abroad at UCLA. He then pursued a Master’s at ETH Zürich, specialising in statistics and machine learning. After an internship at the European Central Bank, however, it was his role as a research engineer at INRIA in Montpellier that proved pivotal. This experience sparked a genuine interest in research, motivating him to pursue a PhD. At StatML, he plans to build on this, focussing on causal inference and missing data to solve influential, real-world problems. In his free time, he enjoys running, socialising, and exploring a wide range of topics like politics and environmental science.
